The Promise of Peace
In that children’s Bible, I saw Jesus with children and animals around him, all sitting sweetly at peace. I knew I wanted him in my life.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
— John 14:27 (ESV)
The Problem
We don't always feel that peace. We make mistakes, we hurt others, and we wander away from God. The Bible calls this sin, and it separates us from Jesus who made us. We can't fix that separation on our own, no matter how hard we try to be a 'good' person.
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
— Isaiah 53:6 (ESV)
The Good News!
Jesus isn't just a man in a picture. He is the Son of God. He came to earth, lived a perfect life, and died on a cross to pay the price for your sins. Then, He rose from the grave, proving He is God and has the power to give us new life.
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
— Romans 5:8 (ESV)
Your Next Step
God is speaking to you today, just like He spoke to me all those years ago. Here's how you follow Jesus and accept Him as your Lord and Savior:
- Admit you need Him.
- Believe that Jesus is Lord and that He rose from the dead.
- Ask Him to forgive all your sins.
- Commit your life to following His lead.
