A Seed Planted in 1968

The story of Kids Laundromat Bibles starts in a laundromat with my mom in St. Joseph, Michigan when I was five years old. I remember sitting there, watching the clothes spin, when I noticed a colorful children's Bible in the waiting area. I was captivated by the image of Jesus on the cover, surrounded by children and animals looking to Him with wonder. As I flipped through those pages, God spoke to my heart for the very first time. That moment stayed with me, eventually leading me to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at age 15. Now, decades later, I am a husband of 32 years and a member of Christ Community Church here in San Diego, but I have never forgotten the impact of that simple Bible in a public place.

My Mission

A year ago, while attending a retreat with my church at the Mission San Luis Rey Retreat Center in Oceanside, we were instructed to find a quiet spot on the grounds to pray and listen for God’s voice. As I sat in the stillness of that place, the memory of reading that children’s Bible in the laundromat—a moment from 1968—suddenly filled my mind. In that moment of reflection, God gave me a clear vision for this mission. I am called to place the Word of God into the hands of children as they visit the laundromat. I believe that every moment is an opportunity for a divine encounter, even a Saturday morning doing chores. By providing high-quality, engaging Bibles, I aim to turn 'waiting time' into 'Word time,' equipping parents to lead their homes spiritually and introducing children to the life-changing truth of the Gospel.

Why the Laundromat?

Life is busy, and for many families, the local laundromat is a weekly hub of activity. Just as a colorful Bible captured my imagination in St. Joseph in 1968, I want to ignite a spark of faith for children today. Every Bible I place is a seed planted for the Kingdom, providing a light in a mundane moment that can lead to an eternal transformation.

What I Believe

I am rooted in the conviction that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God. I believe that the God of the Bible is the one true God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit. My work is driven by a commitment to the Great Commission and the belief that a child’s life is best anchored in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
